It would be impossible to choose the best ever show from a lifetime of amazing concerts, but if I had to pick a top 5, last night at Leicester De Montfort hall would be one of them.  Every year we say the Aussies can’t get any better, but every year they do. Musically and visually this was a supreme performance from a band that should be filling stadiums.

As Steve Mac says, it’s all about being in the Floyd zone. From the first notes of In the Flesh, they were in it and didn’t let up until the end of Run Like Hell, I don’t think I’ve ever seen them play with so much energy. The new light show is incredible, another huge leap from last year and it’s complemented by some great new visuals from Bryan.

Hard to pick highlights from the setlist. Although it’s not my favourite album, The Wall stuff works really well live, Set the Controls was spectacular, Sheep was a great end to the first half and, of course, Comfy was stunning and the crowd went crazy when it finished. And when we thought we had seen the best of the light show, they really cranked up the lasers for Run Like Hell.

The De Montfort Hall was sold out, but there was a guy next to me who had come into the box office at 7 o’clock for a ticket for something else and snapped up a return that had just gone on sale. As we left at the end, he said it was the best show he had ever been to. I can’t argue with that. Roll on the Royal Albert Hall for another fix.

It was great to meet up with forum friends again and to Steve and Cindy who came over from the US for the show. That's dedication!

There is an album in the Photo Gallery, but our compact camera really didn’t do justice to the light show.
