Once again a thoroughly good time had by all, the band were on top form and well up for the gig, Steve M even remarked at one point how they always had a good time here, and it seemed like he meant it.
The Pavilions is not a very large venue, but last night it was as full as it could be, they had opened up the very top level of seating, which is unusual, and it seems that this may have been a late decision as I saw friends who had been unable to get a ticket, and had received a phone call from the venue to offer tickets for the top area.
The set list was exactly the same as reported for the previous night at Bournemouth, so it was "Pigs" just before the interval rather than "Sheep", no sign of the Pig, Skippy or a Baby, but the mirrorball was hoisted during Comfortably Numb, again timed perfectly, the stage crew really are on the ball for this band, including coming on quickly to take Steve M's acoustic away during "Wish You Were Here" (broke a string during the intro), allowing him to continue on using his Strat as if nothing had happened. One little touch I really liked was at the very start of the show, the theme "outside the wall" was playing, and morphed into "Waltzing Matilda" before the band crashed in with "In The Flesh"
All in all another great night with the Aussies, and another year on year improvement to the overall show, I just wonder how long they can keep on building up the show, and also worrying that the smaller venues like Plymouth will disappear off the radar, but he did say "see you all next year" so lets keep hoping.
Now, South Wales or Wiltshire in August, or both?.................
